Portal is a co-warehousing and flexible workspace solution. It’s similar to coworking, but for warehouse and maker space needs. Multiple businesses share a facility, but each member gets their own dedicated, lockable warehouse unit (plus access to shared amenities). You get the benefits of a large warehouse (loading docks, equipment, security, etc.) without the cost and commitment of leasing an entire building on your own.
Your monthly membership rent is all-inclusive. It includes the space itself plus utilities (electricity, water), high-speed Wi-Fi, use of shared equipment (like pallet jacks and forklifts), access to common areas (kitchen, lounge, restrooms), 24/7 access with security, and on-site support during business hours. We do not charge additional CAM or maintenance fees. The only extra costs would be optional services (for example, if you rent a private office additionally, or request something custom) or insurance (we require members to carry basic liability insurance for their business – see below).
We offer private office suites to rent, or a coworking option. Both are available at an extra charge. Inquire to learn more.
No long-term lease required! Our standard memberships are month-to-month or short-term (e.g., 3-month or 6-month agreements), renewing automatically. We believe in earning your business every month. This gives you maximum flexibility – you can scale up, down, or even pause your space with minimal notice. (We do ask for a security deposit and typically a 30-day notice if you plan to move out or change your plan.)
We offer a range of unit sizes from as small as 250 sq ft up to 2,500+ sq ft. Common sizes include 300, 500, 1,000, and 1,500 sq ft units. You can start in a smaller space and upgrade to a larger space as your business grows. (See our Membership page for details on each size category and pricing.)
Absolutely. Our on-site team will accept packages and freight deliveries for you (and place them in your unit or a secure holding area) if you’re not present. We also schedule daily pickups with major carriers (UPS, FedEx, USPS) on weekdays, so your outgoing orders can be picked up from our facility reliably. Essentially, you can treat Portal as your own fulfillment center – some members run their entire e-commerce shipping operation from their space with ease.
In addition to your private storage/work unit, you’ll have access to loading docks for large deliveries, forklifts and pallet jacks to move heavy items, a shared kitchenette or lounge to take breaks, restrooms, and conference/meeting rooms that you can reserve. Many locations also have coworking desk areas if you want to sit down with a laptop outside of your unit. We strive to provide everything you need to store, work, and ship right from the facility.
Yes, security is a top priority. All Portal locations have 24/7 video surveillance, controlled access systems (electronic key cards or codes), and alarm systems. Only authorized members can enter the building and their specific unit. You have access to your own space from 5 am to 11 pm, so you can run your business on your schedule – whether that’s early morning shipments or late-night inventory counts. Our staff is usually on-site during standard business hours for assistance, but members can self-access at any time.
Getting started is easy – you can schedule a tour directly on our website (there’s a “Book a Tour” button on every page). Pick a time that works for you, and our team will be happy to show you the space and answer any questions in person. If you’re ready to join, the sign-up process is straightforward: a bit of paperwork and you can move in as soon as same-day if a unit is available. Feel free to contact us by phone or email as well, and we’ll guide you through every step.
Yes, we require all members to carry basic business liability insurance (and if storing valuable goods, we recommend insuring your property as well). This is similar to renting any commercial space – it protects both you and us. If you don’t already have a policy, we can refer you to providers who offer affordable small business insurance. It’s usually a quick process. You’ll just need to show proof of insurance when you sign up.
Yes! You can build out your individual unit to your specific needs. We offer help in designing the right layout, and have vendors that can help you with the right shelving, stations and equipment.
Our spaces are versatile for a wide range of uses: inventory storage, e-commerce order fulfillment, light assembly or kitting, office work, etc. We welcome businesses from apparel and electronics to home goods, hardware, and more. However, we do have some standard restrictions for safety and compliance – for example, no woodworking shops, auto repair, or heavy manufacturing that could be hazardous or disturb other members. (No flammable large-scale processes, no chemical manufacturing, etc.) Also, if you plan to store any unusually sensitive or regulated materials, let us know so we can confirm it’s allowed. Generally, if it’s legal, non-hazardous, and fits in the space, you can likely do it at Portal! We’re happy to clarify any specific use-case with you one-on-one.
